OCCUPY WALL STREET
text by United Thought

A suggested manifesto for the protesters, printed, photocopied and left at Liberty Plaza for protesters to read.

Corporations have gained the human rights lost by citizens in post-9/11 America.

1% of Americans possess 99% of America’s money, giving a few people political power.

This manifesto is intended to give a structure to infinite instances of protest. The structure is simply an intention to convey unity and give purpose to our desires for a better country which have no voice, no power, otherwise. The point of Occupy Wall Street is to establish a continuous presence of dissent in the heart of a center of power we accuse of violating basic human rights. Our presence is peace Our instances of protest, invented daily, are never ending calls to awaken reality. Time: time builds the weight of the occupation’s sentiment. Barricades around Wall Street, erected because of an idea to occupy as protest, are proof of our success. The barricades are a visible reminder to Wall Street we are here.

The occupation of Wall Street is resistance to a mutant form of fascism. It is a leaderless structure, a sentiment, an idea and in theory it includes everyone. The avant-garde returns as a sentiment. The return is another loop for future philosophers to write towards.

Become a protestor:

Sustain protesters camping out, or camp yourself

Daily instances of protest, staged from the camp

Get more bodies to occupy

Document and transmit the occupation

Do not give up

I want to support you all, I really do, but, why isn’t anybody pointing fingers at the government? After all, corporations at least provide a service for their fee. They create jobs. They don’t take money we don’t give. It is the politicians who should be targeted. Not wall street. Please help me understand the thinking, here.

Support the proposed tax on financial transactions underway in the EU, and especially criticise the UK and canada, and Australia for opposing the tax.
